Amma Therapy

What is Amma Therapy:
Amma Therapy is a Korean lineage healing art based in the principles of Chinese medicine. Using bodywork & acupressure, nutritional and lifestyle considerations, Amma can help to restore balance throughout the physical and energetic body offering all of the benefits of acupuncture without the use of needles. Affecting all systems of the mind/body complex, Amma Therapy can treat most ailments including chronic and acute illness, muscular or structural injury, as well as emotional/physical tensions while boosting immunity and revitalizing energy & spirit.

What to expect in a treatment:
Amma Therapy is form of bodywork that utilizes full body massage with acupressure to free constrained Qi and bring balance and harmony to the body. Treatments may include the use of eastern and western bodywork techniques, acupressure, cupping, moving cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, oils/liniments, or lifestyle/nutritional guidance. All treatments begin with an intake to assess what the areas of focus will be for each individual.

Assessments include questions and observations including tongue and pulse. Treatment plans will be shared with clients to ensure informed consent, and adjusted based on the comfort of the client. Clients generally leave feeling relaxed and energized.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle technique that encourages the body’s natural healing mechanisms to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects of stress, and enhance health and resistance to disease.  The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a light touch usually no greater than 5 grams (about the weight of a nickel), restrictions and imbalances in the soft tissue are released to encourage the movement of fluid within the system.  CST has proven effective in treating a wide range of medical problems especially those associated with pain and dysfunction such as headaches, chronic neck and low back pain, and stress related disorders. You remain fully clothed during a treatment and it's best to wear loose comfortable clothing.

Emotional Processing via Bodywork

Using body work to assist those suffering from grief, loss, or trauma to heal in a holistic manner. This is an adjunct to verbal processing.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the specific needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. The gentle, noninvasive approach of pregnancy massage can ease the discomfort associated with pregnancy, help prepare for labor, and give nurturing emotional support. Pregnancy massage is recommended for women in their 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Massage is done in a side-lying position using pillows and other props to make the mother-to-be as comfortable as possible.

Shiatsu is a form of massage developed in Japan but, similar to acupuncture, is rooted in Chinese Medicine. The goal is to stimulate Qi energy and break up any blockages in it’s flow along the meridians of the body. Shiatsu utilizes a sequence of movements including rhythmic rocking, stretching, pressing, percussion, and deep breaths for an experience that can make you feel revitalized and balanced. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are worn throughout the entire session and no oils or lotions are necessary. This modality is less focused on addressing specific regions and is more effective at bringing the whole system into alignment so that the body can heal itself more efficiently.
